Sixty years after their wedding, there isstill poetry in Gerald and Connie Hillary’s marriage.
The couple, of Low Moor, are well known in farming and poultry circles, but Connie is also an avid writer, setting down everyday’s events in her diary and sometimes putting her thoughts in rhyme, some of which has been published in magazines. Her latest verse is all about
their 60 years together, and Connie intends to read it at a
' four-generation family party on Saturday. Gerald (81) and Connie
(79) are both from farming families in Cumbria and were brought up accustomed to hard work and few luxuries. The.highlight for young
people in those days was a village hall dance with a small

Four Ribble Valley teenagers will tomorrow fly out for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to India to help treat people with cleft palates.
St Augustine’s pupils Charles Knott and Molly Marsland (15), former pupil Elizabeth Golding (17), who now attends St Mary’s College, Blackburn and Clitheroe Royal Grammar School pupil Ben Fourie (15) will accompany 42 doctors,: surgeons and nurses from the Northern Cleft Foundation on a 12-day trip to Nagpur. To date, the charity has provided free operations for
1,200 childrenandadults with facial deformities or cleft pal ates and the group has been fund-raising for months to operate on as many patients as possible. Charles, who hopes this
