Charities are grateful to Grace

AT just 13 years old, golden-voiced Grace O'Malley is making quite a name for herself as a tireless worker for charity.

Singing almost before she could talk, Grace began

1 taking lessons at age six and made her first appearance on stage at seven. At eight she went to Chetham's School of Music as a Manchester Cathedral chorister and left at 10 to join the Junior Royal Northern College of Music.

Her grandfather was a Royal Navy veteran of the

Normandy landings and this led Grace to become involved with the Royal British Legion. She has sung for them on many occasions and been awarded honorary membership for her fund-raising work. She has also raised thousands of pounds for other charities including the North West Air Ambulance, Help for Heroes, Save the Children, The Japanese Tsunami Appeal and Pendleside Hospice. This year Grace received a Highly Commended Young

Citizen Award from the High Sheriff of Lancashire and 2BR's Local Hero Charity Worker of the Year Award. She was also very proud to sing at the LANPAC - (Lancashire Partnership Against Crime) Annual Dinner in front of the High Sheriff, The Chief Constable of Lancashire/former England Captain jimmy Armfield and other dignitaries. ” As usual she has an action packed programme

leading up to and including Christmas. It began with a performance at the Burnley Christmas lights switch-on, then a concert for HAPPA (Horse and Pony Protection Association) and a big concert at Manchester Cathedral for the North West Air Ambulance, starring numerous celebrities. Closer to home, she will also be performing at the-

candlelight Carol Service at Padiham Unitarian Church on December 18th at 6 p.m!

Grace's latest CD, "When You Wish", is also raising

money for Pendleside Hospice. Outstanding value at just £5, it is available from Pendleside Hospice shops and packed with a wide range of numbers, with all proceeds going to the hospice.

Best restaurant .

I'm not really into posh restaurants - 1 prefer good traditional food in a pub atmosphere and locally you can't go far wrong with The Calf's Head at Worston. For take-away you can't beat fish chips and peas from Whalley Road Chippy in Clitheroe.

Bream car? One that looks good and

doesn't cost £80 per week to fill!

Pet hates? . - Bad manners.

moment? Getting caught with my pants down by some German tourists when nature called on the Gorge of Samaria in Crete. I still go red at the thought!
