near Tosca Farm and was very peaceful apart from some very inquisitive young bullocks. The group then went towards Old Town, passing the beautiful Ter- ; rybank Tarn before turning south to wards Hawkrigg Farm, with views over lonely Barbondale. More field paths
brought the group to Tosca Cottage and on through some woodland to Hop House and Hot Ridding. ■After a short road walk they went
through Underlcy Farm to the terrace walk, which leads to Ruskin’s View and the riverside walk back to Devil’s Bridge, where families were picnicking by the river and children were swim- rning and boating. An ice cream by the river made a very pleasant ending to a good day out.

indecent assault A TAXI driver has appeared before Blacfe ..burn magistrates charged with indecent as saults on two female passengers. . Younis Hussain Zaman (32), of Higher Antley Street, Accrington, was directed to stand trial at Preston Crown Court after '
. pleading not guilty to two charges of inde cent assault and two of plying for hire when
- he was licensed for private hire. : Andrew Robinson (prosecuting) said the
t\vo females were aged 18 and 21. Zaman was alleged to have taken one to
her home in Clithcroe and then offered to let her off with the fare in return for a kiss. He had repeated the offence the follow ing day with a woman who he had taken to Langho. On both occasions Zaman was’al- leged to have kissed the women and touched one of them in a sexual way. ■ He was remanded on bail for'the prepa
ration of committal papers with a condition that he does not enter the Ribble Valley.
Teen stole barbecue
CLITHEROE man Leon Andrews (19), of Woone Lane, was given a conditional dis charge for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £5 compensation by Blackburn magistrates after pleading guilty to stealing a disposable barbecue from Homebase. The court heard Andrews ran from the
shop with the barbecue and three hours lat er walked into the police station and owned up to what he had done.
