Mohammed Bashir admitted to police that he had just dropped four girls off in Clitheroe hav ing picked them up at Burnley Football Club. He told police he had

left his taxi badge at home and that he could n’t remember.the badge number. But Miss Clare Knight

(defending) said that while the vehicle he was driving could be used as a taxi, he was not using it as a taxi. Bashir, of Lindsay

Street, Burnley Wood, Burnley, pleaded guilty to driving while disquali fied and without insur ance and obstructing a police officer. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sen tence report with a warn ing that custody would

; be an option for the sen tencing magistrates. Miss Catherine Allan

(prosecuting) said the private hire car driven by Bashir was stopped at 12-15 am. Bashir gave

. false details before being questioned about his taxi

. badge. When the officers said they were going to arrest him Bashir ran off, but was detained after a foot chase. When he gave his cor

rect details it emerged he was banned from driving. Miss Allan said Bashir

had numerous convic tions for disqualified driving.

; Miss Knight said that

■ when he was stopped Bashir simply panicked.

“Works with Water Nutraceuticals” is current ly looking to bring togeth er people suffering with high blood pressure and raised cholesterol, who would be happy to talk about and share their experiences of the condi tions. Called the Heart Health

Forum, the event will be held in Blackburn later this month. Then Works with Water

Nutraceuticals will meet with these individuals to explore alternative ways to manage risk through lifestyle changes and to offer free trials of its “help; blood pressure” and “help; cholesterol” products to those willing to a ct as regional case studies and talk about their experi ences. Jules Birch, founder of

the company, said: “Unmanaged, high blood pressure directly increases

the risk of cardiovascular disease, with the World Health Report estimating that 62% of stroke and 49% of heart disease is attributable to sub-opti mal blood pressure levels. “This, along with news

that for every 1% reduc tion in blood cholesterol, there could be a 3% reduc tion in risk of coronary heart disease, proves that there has never been a bet ter time to take steps to manage our heart heith. “We are really keen to

recruit people from the region to trial oiu- products and see how these, along with important diet and lifestyle changes, can have a real impact in helping to reduce blood pressure or manage cholesterol, and ultimately protecting against heart disease.” If you suffer from hjrper-

tension and cholesterol and would like to be involved in the Heart Health Forum and in tri alling, contact Works -with Water Nutraceuticals on 0844 811 8487 or e-mail: hearthealth@workswith- water.co.uk
