World Day of Prayer service will be held in Whalley Methodist Church.


The theme is “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord” .


This year’s prayer day has been prepared by Christian women of the Cameroon. The speaker is the Rev. Gillian Dyer, priest-in-charge, of Whalley, Sabden and Pendleton parishes.


Spring fair a spring fair will be


held in Whalley Methodist Church on Saturday from 10-30 a.m. to 1-30


p.m.


There will be various stalls with many exciting gifts, including jewellery, cards, cosmetics, scarves, books, cakes, bric-a-brac, plus a music, video and CD stall.


Light refreshments will be available throughout the fair and lunch will be available from noon. Admission is 50p.


Services Worship, including the Sacrament of Holy Communion, will be led by the minister, the Rev. Katy Thomas in Whalley Methodist Church on Sunday morning at 10-30 a.m.


Action group Whalley Christian Action Group’s Lent lunch will take-place on Tuesday at 11-45 a.m.

Whalley Flower Club, chairman Mrs Carol Riley wel­ comed everyone to the first flower demonstration of the year.

Book fair Today books will be on sale in the hall of Whalley Primary School after school and on Monday and Tuesday.


All the children have been given a £1 book token which may be spent on any' purchase over £2.99, either at the fair or any partici­ pating book shop.

■the subject of an illustrated lecture by Mary Curry to Whalley and Dis­ trict Archaelogical and Historical Soci­ ety in Whalley Abbey.


It followed the River Lune, visiting small villages and church­ es with examples of the bailey and moat mounds still visible, many hundreds of years since they were in use.
