HISTORIC Valley hall opened its outdoors to the public eariier this month.
On the first weekend in August
members of the public were invited to view the gardens at Downham Hail. Musical entertainment was
provided by Barnoidswick Brass Band
and there were a variety of stalls for visitors to browse round including a Wl cake stall, as well as others selling piants and books. Activities aimed at youngsters
included a "Name the Teddy" competition and a contest to guess the number of sweets in a jar. A
treasure trail was run by Stage II Downham. Proceeds from the two days were
in aid of two good causes - Downham Village Hall and the DownhamfTrust which aims to enhance the beauty and environment of the village and its surrounding area.
