What is the Switchover Heip Scheme? The Switchover Help Scheme has been set up to help people to switch one of their TV sets to digital. fit from digital TV, those who most need it will be given support to help them through the process. The Switchover Help Scheme will pro vide equipment to convert one TV set, and help with --------------- its installation and fol low-up support. If you're 75 or

Eligible people should have

been contacted well in advance of switchover.

The Granada TV region, starts its switch to digital on 4 November. Your exact switchover date depends on which transmitter group you receive your TV signal from. Contact us to check your switchover date, enter your postcode at digitaluk.co.uk or call 08456 50 50 50.

For anyone who receives TV through an aerial and plans to switch using a Freeview TV or box* there are two important stages to remember:

y

4 November - Switchover stage one: The switchover begins. Analogue BBC Two will be switched off permanently, and the higher powered BBC digital

services will launch. M Freeview TVs and boxes will need to be re-tuned or installed at this point.

2 December - Switchover stage two: The remaining analogue channels will be switched off and the rest of the digital services launched. M Freeview TVs and boxes will need to be re-tuned again.

Switchover will make Freeview available to virtually every home in this area, including those that can’t currently receive it, as it allows the digital signal to be strengthened and transmitted for the first time from the local relay transmitters. This will mean that everyone can get around 20 channels, and will also provide additional services such as audio description for viewers with disabilities. Those who receive satellite and cable TV however, will not be

affected by this change.

We’re here to help. You may receive your signal from another transmitter group, so if you have questions call us on 08456 50 50 50 or go to digitaluk.co.uk. Thank you.
