Street school’s council, chil dren dressed in pink and wore pink wigs, hats, hair bands and sunglakes raising £350 for the Breast Cancer Campaign
charity. The funds raised will sup
port vital research work into understanding how breast can cer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment and cure. To provide further informa
tion about this life-threatening disease, ladies connected with the school are invited to a breast cancer awareness evening at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The aim of the evening will be to educate woman how to check for the signs of breast
cancer. A “Pink Ball” organ ised by the Clitheroe school’s PTA and held a t Clitheroe Golf Club on Saturday raised a further £1,300 for the chari ty.

local shopkeepers and mem bers of the public turned out in force to hear the CCTC’s plans for Christmas 2009. Mr Nigel Pratt, the cham
ber’s president was delighted by the enthusiasm of people. He commented: “We have been overwhelmed by the support and energy of our town’s traders, businesses and independent entrepreneurs, who have come together like never before to take pro active steps and a rallying call to action in making Clitheroe a top priority and destination choice for local shopping, tourism and leisure.
“Encouraged by the record
breaking uptake in member ship over the last couple of months, we have now been able to put into practise plans and proposals in enhancing Clitheroe as a vibrant shop ping destination over the Christmas period.” Under the plans, a varied
range of entertainment and activities will be held to com pliment the late night Thurs day shopping experience in December. There will also be an official Christmas lights “switch on” ceremony for the first late night launch event.
