PICTURES of days gone by are on display in a Ribble Val ley village. Until mid October Chat-
burn Library is exhibiting photographs of the former mill and its workforce. The images date back to the

employees have loaned to the library. • The library is open on
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday from 2 until 5 p.m., and on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5-30 until 7 p.m. • Next month the library
will stage another photo graphic exhibition, featuring fallen soliders from the village whose names are listed on the war memorial a t Christ Church in Chatburn. (s)
PLANS to pay GPs £5.25 for each swine flu vaccination they administer have been slammed by a Ribble Valley Euro-MP. Paul Nuttall, of the UK
Independence Party (UKIP), said: “We all know that the average GP salary is £110,000 and they already receive £7.51 for each seasonal flu jab they give. Now they are going to get another huge boost to their income. “I t is outrageous, especially
at this particular time when so many are struggling to make ends meet.” said Paul Nuttall, Clitheroe MEP.
Anger at vaccine payment Mr Nuttall, whose North
West constituency includes the Ribble Valley, added: “It is the taxpayer who will be funding this financial bonan za and it is an affront to the average wage earner. “What are they getting
their salary for in the first place? Surely giving vaccina tions is all part of being a GP. I t is wrong that they should now have negotiated this windfall payout. And I per sonally have nagging doubts about whether this vaccine has been thoroughly tested before being offered to the general public.” '
