m Dr Hook’s Grand show It’s a ll‘sexy eyes on

= NUMBER one hit selling artist Dr Hook - featuring original lead

singer Ray Sawyer - ivill give the Ribble Valley's music scene a shot in the arm with a perform

ance at The Grand this month. The fondly remembered pop.

group, well knotvn for its iconic eye- patch wearing front man Sawyer, are flying into the UK direct from Los Angeles and playing only a handful of dates in the country and just one in the North West, appearing at The Grand on Friday, May 22nd. Dr Hook had no fewer than six

UK number 10 hits between 1972 and 1980, including “Sylvia's Moth er'-', .“If Not You”, “Only Sixteen”, “Sexy Eyes” and, most unforget tably, “When You're In Love with a Beautiful Woman”. It topped the

charts in the UK and US for a com bined chart run of 46 weeks in 1979.

Four of their singles sold in excess of one million copies each. Supporting Dr Hook

throughout their UK tour, at the personal request of Ray Sawyer, is Clitheroe's own up ; and coming singer-songwriter Amy Barton. At just 19, Amy. has received

many plaudits in her fledgling career, having gained compli ments from the likes of John Jorgenson, of the Elton John Band, and previous tour sup port slots with The Animals and performances at the Leg ends of Folk Rock festival last October. She will be supporting Dr

Hook for a week's worth of dates across the UK, before' the band fly off to Denmark, where they are appearing at a major music festival. The

w

Grand's Executive Director Steven Lancaster said: “We are delighted to be hosting an act of the calibre of Dr Hook. The band were one of the most revered of their era and I'm sure it ivill provide a nice touch of nostalgia for music lovers throughout the Ribble Valley. “I t is also fantastic that the

band have chosen Amy, a Clitheroe singer, to proiride tour support.” Tickets for the May 22nd concert are limited to 300 and priced at £20. To book, call The Grand on
