15th, Jenni (20) will be at the Black Knights Parachute Centre, at Cockerham, preparing to jump out of an aeroplane as a fund-rais ing event for the British Heart Foundation (BHF). The fact that June 15th is also
Fathers’ Day is very fitting, as Jenni is making the jump in mem ory of her dad, John Anderson,
- who'died while out walking in th e : Lake District last November.-
Many people will have known John, who lived in Whalley for 15 years and was a former chairman of Clitheroe Round Table. Jenni grew up in Whalley and
attended the village primary school before going on to Ribbles- dale High School, in Clitheroe. Her family now live in nearby Great Harwood. Instead of having a family
party to celebrate her 21st later this year, Jenni asked her mum to pay for the parachute jump so that, unlike similar charity events where some of the money raised
pays for, the jump itself, all the proceed of Jenni’s jump will go directly to the BHF. - Friends and colleagues are ral
lying round to sponsor her and ’ Jenni would like to thank every one for their support so far, partic ularly the businesses at Backridge Farm and the management of Low Moor Club, Clitheroe, who are all helping the fund-raising by holding sponsorship forms. , Anyone who would like to spon sor Jenni, especially those with fond memories of her father, can telephone 01254 877371 or send her an e-mail at: andersonjen-

Barrow Bash gets the thumbs up
■ GUESTS turned out in force at Clitheroe Golf Club for the annual “Barrow Bash”. Organised by Barrow Primary School,
a delicious three-course meal was enjoyed followed by an auction, which included signed Blackburn Rovers and Burnley shirts, a signed Lancashire cricket bat, hospitality at a Lancashire County Cricket Club one day game, Avril Lavi-, gne concert tickets and WWF wrestling tickets to name a few lots.
- Alter the auction the guests danced the
night away to live 1960s’ band “The Backbeats” and a disco. Our picture shows this year’s organisers
Sharon Walker-Smith, Nicola Davies and Kerry Reede with some of the auction lots. (s) '
Biking trio plan their trip of a lifetime for children’s charity
by Debbie Wood
THREE motorcyclists are about to embark on a journey of a lifetime - and hope to raise money for charity along the way. Peter Bradshaw, (39), from Bolton-by-Bowland
Peter Sanderson, (52), from Colne, and Martin Wood, (55), from Bamoldswick, will set off on their ■ three-week motorbike and camping trip tomorrow. During the 5,000-mile journey, they will visit 15
countries, in a similar ride to that seen by actor Ewan McGregor and his friend Charley Boorman in their Long Way Round and Long 'Way Down series. . Mr Sanderson said: “Wewill be travelling down
through-Europe to the bottom tip of Italy via the Alps, across the Adriatic Sea, via ferry, to Albania, then on to our destination - the Acropolis in Athens.”
' .
■ There the threesome will celebrate Mr Brad shaw’s 40th birthday, before following the Adriatic
•coast through countries such as Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia, and heading back to the UK. Mr Wood, whose love of motorcycling inspired
him to plan the journey. The Acropolis Tour ’08, said: “'We are three men getting to an age when it
was time to do a once in a lifetime .trip and have an adventure. “We are very excited and looking forward to it.” The trip also has a cause beyond the bikers’ own
enjoyment. “We have decided to nominate a recently created
charity - the Trewan Sands Children’s Trust - which is designed to create holidays for those much less fortunate than ourselves, particularly children, even to the point of being terminally ill,” added Mr Sanderson. “We wanted to find a charity for children in Pen-
dle and we found that the TSC Trust is sending a child from this area on holiday to Anglesey - that is the place where local children will enjoy a holiday, courtesy of the Trust.”
, . :So far. The, Acropolis Tour ’08 has raised around
£1,500. The TSC Trust is a non-profit making organisa
tion, ensuring that all the money raised goes to the families who can benefit from it. Anyone wishing to make a donation can visit the •
