Police issue vigilance warning


POLICE are warning res­ idents to be extra -vigilant a f te r a spate of th e f ts from cars in the Ribble VaUey.


. Numerous cars were


ransacked in Clitheroe, Barrow and Gisburn overnight on Sunday with everything from lo o se : change to expensi-ve satel­ lite navigation systems taken. ; ■ In Clitheroe, a Volvo car parked in the drive­ way of a house on Somer­ set Avenue was targeted. A Smarties tube full of loose change and a plastic tub filled with 50 pence' pieces were stplen, along with a tyre gauge and a cigarette lighter. ; A satellite navigation


system and other smaller items with a total value of £122 were stolen from a Peugeot 207 car also


■parked on Somerset Avenue. .Thieves also focused their attention: on cars in


tGisburn overnight on Sunday. A Stihl saw was


taken from a white pilot van parked iii Mill Lane, aiG a rm in Streamline satellite navigation sys­ tem and the front of a Sony CD car stereo with, a total -value of £315 was stolen from a Mercedes Sprinter van, while cash and a'stereo with a total value of £70 was taken from a silver Peugeot 106 car parked at Park Mews.. .Meanwhile,
