“MYSTERY worshippers” have visited churches in Clitheroe as part of the first- ever ChurchCheck Sunday survey. Early last month two dozen people
called unannounced on pews throughout the north of England to give the churches marks out of 100. At last weekend’s Northern Christian
Resources Exhibition, in Harrogate, their views from the pews were due to be revealed. Event director Steve Briars said:
“ChurchCheck Sunday researchers visit ed a range of services reflecting different traditions and styles. The project has helped CRE monitor where local church es need more advice in welcoming new visitors and helped them get ready for Back to Church Sunday.” Benita Hewitt, Director of Christian
Research, added: “The first impression someone receives at church is so impor tant and ChurchCheck puts it to the
test.” Make sure your vehicle is locked
MOTORISTS are being urged to ensure their vehicles are locked at all times. The warning has been issued by Sgt
James Saddoo, of Clitheroe Police, after a spate of thefts from cars in the Woone I^ne area of the town.. During the past fortnight,-thieves have
been targeting vehicles and the most com mon items stolen are mobile phones, CDs, Sat Nav devices, iPods and in one inci
dent, NHS baby weighing scales! Sgt Sad doo is also urging drivers not to leave expensive items on display in their vehi cles. He said: “Drivers need to make sure they lock their vehicles as opportunist thieves are breaking into insecure cars and vans..”
- If you have been a victim of car theft,
please call Clitheroe Police on 443344, or Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111. •
