■'N-A------
AT times tear-jerking, but ultimately heartwarming, “The Pursuit of Happy- ness” is the s tory of Christopher Gardner (Will Smith), a family man struggling to make ends meet. Despite his attempts to
keep the family afloat, his wife finally buckles and flees under the constant financial strain, leaving Gardner to cope alone with their five-year-old son (brilliantly played by Will Smith’s own son).
A sky safari
THE spectacular aerial display of the rare hen har rier will hopefully be the highlight of “Skydancer Safari” guided walks run by the RSPB in April. Experts from the RSPB,
United Utilities and Nat ural England will lead moorland walks in the Trough of Bowland on Wednesday April 11th and Saturday April 21st... and there are still a few places available. They will be on the look
out for Bowland's hen har riers - one of the UK's rarest birds of prey - which will be returning from the coasts to the uplands to breed. They will also be hoping to catch a glimpse of other moorland birds
such as ring ouzels, red grouse and curlews. “In April, Bowland’s hen
harriers should be at their most active, with the males going through some amaz ing acrobatic stunts - hence the name ‘skydancer’ - in their endeavors to attract a mate,” said Peter Wilson, RSPB Bowland Officer. There will be a charge of
£5 per walk and all profits will go to benefit vital con servation work in the For est of Bowland area. Booking is essential and
should be made by ringing the RSPB’s Anna Sugrue between 9 a.m. and 5-15 p.m. Monday-Friday on 01484 861148 (e-mail:
anna.sugrue@
rspb.org.uk)
4 ^ Ti{ // f ( ■ ■ G - Each walk starts at 10
a.m., lasts five to six hours and covers steep, hilly ter rain, so a reasonable degree of fitness and good quality outdoor clothing are required. Further details xvill be sent on booking. The guided walks are part of a series of events in the Bow land area this year. For more details on the other wildlife and heritage events, including the Bowland Fes- tTOl from June 2nd to 17th, contact Anna or visit:

WIN! Cinema tickets Although bright and
talented, (Jardner cannot make a living as a sales man and when father and son are e'victed from their San Fransisco apartment, the future looks bleak indeed. Their luck begins to
turn when Gardner lands an internship at a presti gious stock brokerage firm, but he and his son must still face many hardships in pursuit of his dream of a better future for them both.
