club two seasons ago as an Under Os side, before a large influx of members last .year led to a split into Saturday and Sunday teams. The Saturday side, managed by
Ian Gibson, had a very sharj) learn ing curve as a lot of the team had not played a game in anger. They soon found their feet and
put some good performances dur ing the season, finishing strongly in the league. Next season, their success will be

Whalley’s two wins
WHALLEY Juniors Under 14s brought a fine season to a close with two wins. First up, the locals beat Hasling-
don Reds 3-1 to move up the table. In a first half they dominated,
Whalley wont close a number of times before Liam Kinney fired them into the lead, and Connor Ripley increased the advantage be fore half time. The second half was a more even
affair, and Haslingden pulled a goal back, only for Whalley to hit back almost immediately as Ripley raced through to score. Then Whalley earned a 4-1 win
over Blackburn Town. Again the side created several
chances before Ripley opened the scoring, and Sam Jennings in creased the lead. In the second half, Ripley struck
again, before Town pulled one back. Michael Clegg rounded off the
victory with a fourth goal. This has been a good season for
Whalley with 50 points from their 26 games, ample reward for their development over the season.
