MP hits out at account

THE Ribble Valley’s MP has lambasted the Govern ment over its handling of the Post Office Card Account and questioned the Deputy Prime Minister during Prime Minister’s Question Time. Nigel Evans said tha t the removal of the accounts from post offices and the paying of benefits solely into a bank accoimt would affect millions of people. “Sub post offices have been let down by this gov

ernment. Since 2000,3,000 post offices have closed and last year the Government presided over the largest ever annual closure of sub post offices,” he said, call ing on the Government to reconsider its position over the removal of the Post Office Card Account.
