Fellowship A harvest thanksgiv ing service was held a t the meeting of Chatburn Methodist Church Afternoon Fellowship. Harvest hymns were sung and prayers said by Mrs Doris Giles.
Mrs Giles introduced guest speaker Mrs Carol Holden, who told of her trek to the Himalayas, which raised funds for Help the Aged.
With a group of peo ple, she travelled to Delhi to pick up a health care mobile unit, from which people came to receive treatment and have their blood pressure checked. The. party was shocked at how the people lived and how dirty the streets were, with chickens, dogs and cows run ning wild.
The group took an overnight train to meet-up with sher- pas who escorted them on the trek, carrying all their equipment for them.

Guest speaker was Mr Bill Honeywell, a Clitheroe estate agent, who gave an informative, fasci nating and humor ous talk about his appearance on the TV programme "Who wants to be a Millionaire".
Apparently, for each show some 50 people are rung and asked a question which is dif ficult to answer. This gives the programme makers feedback on who are good "near accurate" guessers and helps them choose the right con testants for the pro gramme.
Mr Honeywell described the studio atmosphere in detail and gave a nail biting account of his ordeal in front of the cam eras. Mrs Helen Pow ell expressed thanks.
The competition was won by Mrs Trish Wilkinson, the raffle was won by Mrs Dorothy Preston and the birthday flowers went to Mrs Margaret Heane.

Reader Mrs Joanne Lloyd led the service and gave the address on the theme of “Water from the Well” and a collec tion was taken for the Bishop of Brad ford’s appeal to pro vide water for the people in the Third World. A group of children took part in a tableau demon strating the impor tance of water. Lessons were read by Mr S. Lloyd and Mrs T. Wrathall.
During the service the baptism took place of the baby daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Mitchell, by the Rev. Eric Kyte. After wards refreshments were enjoyed by all.

On the third Wednes day of each month, a hot main course is offered with a choice of home-made dess erts followed by a cup of tea or coffee. The meal is served from noon unill 1-30 p.m. in the hall on Chapel Lane.

Camera club’s trophy triumph
A very successful opening supper was held and the second meeting was devoted to photographs on farming and pictorial themes to be put forward for possible inclu sion in next year’s calendar for Dugdales Nutrition, one of the club’s major sponsors.
Most of the pictures were taken during the summer, many on club meetings. Walks in the Chatbum area, Bolton-by-Bow- land, Martin Mere and Clitheroe Castle grounds all pro duced good pictures. A second visit to Gaping Ghyll for the autumn winch meet even gave scope for photography both above ground and 400ft belowl

Dean Weaver’s “By the Book” and Ken Geddes’ “Spiral Stair, Lille” both received 17 out of 20. These were backed by Stephen Robinson’s “Robin” and Ken Geddes’ “Did lady with dog”, each getting 15. 'The club was placed fifth in the Colour Prints and fourth in the Monochrome Prints. The most successful monochrome print was Stephen Robinson’s “Paired Forms-I” with 16 points and the best colour print was Steuart KeUington’s “The Quiraing, Isle of Skye” with 17.
