MILLIONS of viewers saw “Avenue”, the boy- band fronted by Clitheroe’s singing star Jonny Lloyd, get the boot on Saturday. Young singer Jonny’s

held our hand up and admitted we had a manage ment deal and that it had been terminated. We are heartbroken to have been axed from the competition in this way.”

Referee given
a police escort POLICE escorted referee Ross Joyce off Clitheroe’s Shawbridge ground on Sunday after there were fears for his safety at a women’s football match. A large crowd was left fuming after
Ross sent off two Blackburn Rovers’ play ers during extra time in the Women’s Pre mier League Cup against Chelsea. The controversial decision saw Rovers
knocked out of the league 6-3. Insp. Mark Porter, of Clitheroe Police,
said: “We received a call at about 4-30 p.m. Officers attended and there were no problems while they were there. “I am aware there had been concerns
for the referee’s safety and a 50-strong crowd had gathered outside the dressing room. We are willing to speak to anyone about the incident, but it is likely that the matter will be dealt with by the FA.”
