Last week members of Bolton-by-Bowland Young Farmers’ Club enjoyed a talk by Robert Phillips. Next week’s meeting is Christmas flower arranging with Lynda Holt. Mem­ bers are asked to pro­ vide their own flowers to help keep costs down, and should meet in the village hall at 7-45 p.m.

At the meeting of Chatburn Methodist Church Women’s Fel­ lowship Mrs Doris Giles introduced guest speaker Mr John Townson, whose talk was entitled “A Load of Old Rub­ bish”. He told mem-


bers he collects pieces of good quality old wood, branches and twigs which have fall­ en off trees and bits of drift wood. From these he makes items to help retore church­ es and also objects to sell.


Mrs Giles thanked him for his humorous talk and Mrs Marjorie Wilkinson accompa­ nied the hymns.


At the next meeting on Wednesday the Rev. Chris Cheeseman, of Whalley, will give a talk.

One voice On Wednesday, the Preston One Voice Gospel Choir is mak­ ing a return visit to St John's, to sing a wide variety of music including gospel and spiritual. If you have children who will be attending Christmas Eve Vigil Mass in St Peter's Church, they are invited to join the children's choir that will sing during the servica The choir will be led by Mr Greg Mann, a parishioner, and Director of Music at Stonyhurst. The rehearsals will be held in St Joseph's after 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, December 10th and 17th.


A collection is being made of goods for Maundy Relief, an Accrington -based charity. Run by Sister Dorothy, the charity helps the homeless, and is in particular need of toiletries this year. A minibus will take donated items to the shelter after the Christmas Eve Vigil Mass. If you have goods to contribute, please bring them to Mass at St Peter's or St Joseph's over the next two weekends.
