DISH OF THE WEEK SPIDER’S WEB CAKES
INTRODUCE the children to cooking this half-term holiday by . helping you to make ghoulish treats for a Hallowe’en party on Monday. It is never too early to encourage them to take an inter est in food and learn to enjoy the basics of cooking. These spider’s web cakes are
lots of fun for small hands to help make (and eat) and are a deli cious Hallowe’en treats for par
ties. Newspapers, magazines and
television are Ml of stories about what children should be eating rather than too much conven ience food, crisps and sweets. With this in mind Booth’s
Supermarket in Clitheroe, has introduced a new range of top- quality ready meals for children. The meals- called “Martha and Lawrence for Children” - are made by a small company in the Yorkshire Dales using the finest ingredients. The meals, which currently
comprise chicken breast in a tomato and smooth vegetable sauce, cheesy meatballs in a fresh chunky tomato sauce and mild chilli con came, were all taste tested by local children who gave them a massive thumbs up Andrew Hayes, from Martha
and Lawrence, explained how the meals came about: “My wife is Brown Owl for a local Brownie group. At their camp this year one of the mums, who is a food scientist, cooked all the meals. The children absolutely adored them - even the notoriously picky ones cleared their plates. “So we set about developing
the new meals to her recipes, and ones that have been passed down from her mother. We are using the finest ingredients possible. “We know th a t mothers are

Food Buyer said: “We’ve been looking for a children’s range for some time, but haven’t before been able to find anything suit able. The ‘Martha and Lawrence For Children’ range uses fresh produce from the local area which fits perfectly with the Booths ethos.”
