During this time, the coach firm has b u i l t u p a n e n v i a b l e r e p u t a t i o n b o t h
FOR almost half a century, the dis tinctive white coaches of Hodsons of Gisburn have become a familiar site for many people across the Ribble Valley and Yorkshire.
locally and nationally by ensuring the passengers’ journey is as comfortable and
trouble free as possible. But now the standards of the success
ful family-run business have accelerated and proprietor Mr Michael Hodson is happy to announce the firm’s new home - Link 59 Business Park in Clitheroe. The move to the popular business park
follows the increasing popularity of the reputable firm, which has seen it go from one coach to a fleet of coaches. Back in the mid-sixties, Michael and
his parents - Ken and Dorothy Hodson - began with just one minibus working from their family home a t Pyecross Farm, in Paythome. Their first contract was transporting children to the local schools. As the business grew, more vehicles
were acquired and as a result, in 1972, the company moved to Deerpark Garage, in Gisbum. The business truly became a family
affair when the couple’s son, Michael, and daughter-in-law Heather joined the firm.

AT YOUR SERVICE: Adelc Dobson (front) along with Michael Hodson, Heather Hodson and Thomas Hodson (B280105/lb)
In 1994, Michael bought the business
from his father and it was strengthened further by the introduction of his son, Thomas, and daughter Adele. The thriving firm now boasts seven
top-of-the-range coaches of various seat ing capacities. The range of coaches includes: 16, 24,
33, 53, 55, 57 and 70-seaters. Whatever your needs, Hodsons has vehicles to suit all your requirements, and executive vehicles, offering 49 seats, are also available for people who want to travel in style. The expansion has meant the creation
of three part-time jobs and, depending on the further progress of the company, more jobs may be up for grabs - so watch this space! Hodsons employs 22 drivers, who have
all been checked by the Griminal Record Bureau, and in the event of an emergency all the drivers are equipped with cellular radio phones. As customer satisfaction is the family’s
top priority, some of the coaches offer air conditioning and reclining seats for added passenger comfort. Some are fully equipped with on-board
television sets and the availability of hot and cold drinks promises first-class travel for all the passengers.
Hodsons provides transport for people travelling anywhere in the country and any European country. The company is contracted
P
by North Yorkshire Gounty Gouncil and Lancashire Gounty Gouncil to operate school contracts. Many of these schools take advantage of low-rate deals offered dur ing school hours. The deals cover day trips for a multitude of purposes i.e. geography field trips, outings to histori cal sites, sports meetings or simply a fun day out. Hodsons caters for private
groups and organisations pro viding travel in both Britain and Europe. These include sports clubs, young farmers, church groups and conference delegates.
