M . .M-il 7 - I M i M 1 SPECTATORS enjoy the main ring displtiy s on offer :it the show (G1 lOiiO l/2e) Louise joins successful legal partnership L

o c a l solicitor Louise Jane Godfrey has climbed the legal ladder and become the third partner at Blackburn-based legal firm Hardman Wood Solicitors, which also incorporates the

former practice of Arkwright Cooper. Louise, of Clitheroe, became a partner in June, just six years

after qualifying as a solicitor. As part of the friendly legal team at Hardman Wood Solicitors, Louise works from the firm’s base in Blackburn, together with her fellow partners and firm founders, Mr Michael Hardman and Mr Anthony Wood.

The partners and five support staff offer personal advice and

assistance in a variety of legal matters, specialising in family law and conveyancing. Hardman Wood Solicitors provide a quality service to privately and publicly-funded clients through membership of the Law Society Children Panel and Solicitors Family Law Association. Mr Wood is an Accredited Family Lawyer Mediator. Louise is now striving to obtain the necessary further specialist qualifications which would also enable her to Join the Children Panel. Louise is no stranger to further and continued education. After

leaving Ribblesdale High School she went on to Blackburn College, then to Humberside University in Hull, gaining a 2.1 BA Hons degree in Law and Accountancy. Louise completed the legal practice course at the College of Law in York and then the final professional examinations in Preston. For the last two years Louise

has been back at Blackburn College, but this time lecturing in family law on the ILEX diploma course. During her time as a student in Hull, Louise was a founding

member of the univeisity’s Law Society and also succeeded in setting up a client interviewing competition, sponsored by a Hull law firm. Louise was awarded Student Union Colours for her achievements.

Locally Louise has, over the years, been an active member of the

community. Until last year she was Company Secretary and a director of the Trinity Community Partnership and as part of the team was instrumental in many campaigns, including the re opening of the Grand Cinema with “Whistle Down The Wind”. As a young Clitheroe girl, Louise gained a Community Service Award for her contribution to many local issues and activities.

After starting work at Hardman Wood Solicitors in 1996, Louise

was given the task of bringing the legal team up to the necessary standards required to become Investors in People. This was. achieved together with recognition as a Legal Services Commission specialist help point in family law.

Louise was formally admitted to the toll of solicitors in 1998 and

continued to help streamline the firm. Louise believes the firm can be promoted positively by these standards. In maintaining recognition, the partners believe clients enjoy a better service. As a commitment to improving services the firm looks at the career

development of members of the Hardman Wood team, particularly in currently encouraging one member of staff to follow the ILEX diploma to become a legal executive. With the new and exciting responsibilities of being a partner in a

busy legal practice, Louise has found little time for community quests but is certain to make her name known again in the future. Louise’s enthusiasm for work and her obvious dedication to the well-established firm of Hardman Wood Solicitors will enable her to help take the firm forward and build on its respected reputation.
