Wolves Under 13s suffer cruel late blow after a brave fightback - but bounce back in style
Clitheroe Wolves Rangers Under 1 3 s ................4 Rishton United................................................ . .5 CLITHEROE Wolves Rangers Under 13s suffered a heart-breaking 5-4 defeat to second placed Rish ton United at Roefield. After, producing a tremendous second half fight
back to pull the scores back to 4-4 alter trailing 4-1, the locals conceded a iast-minute goal. Wolves’ lone goalscorer in the first half was Alex
Newton but the Wolves defensive frailties were exposed as they trailed 4-1 at half-time. The Wolves started the second half brightly and
pulled a goal back through Philip Darnell. And things got better for the locals as Daniel Rigg
made it 4-3. David Fallon then missed from the penalty spot but Clitheroe equalised through Rigg > once more but it was Rishton, who had the last laugh.

the remainder continued to battle bravely. The man of the match award went to Matthew

With the wind at their backs, Clitheroe pushed for a
second goal which came five minutes before half-time, Ripley scoring again from a matter,of inches after Parkinson's effort was blocked on the line. In the second half Clitheroe had a number of good
chances to add to their score but came up against a goalkeeper in fine form. Good all-round team display from the entire team

a deserved equaliser cour tesy of a stunning Paul Pountain free-kick. Dog had chances to take
the lead either side of half time, but failed to make the most of their openings. They then suffered a
cruel blow on the hour, when star centre-half Garry Pearse scored an unfortunate own-goal. Further chances came
and went before key winger Eddie Andrews was carried off with an ankle injury. Having already lost
Chris West early in the game, Kerins’ men were forced to play out the final 15 minutes with 10 men. Their hosts capitalised
on this and netted three times in the dying minutes to give the scoreline a flat tering look. Kerins said: “Pretty
much everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong. However, the effort of the players was superb, and on another day we could easily have been celebrating a famous victo ry.”
