Clitheroe Advertiser & Times, May 22nd, 2003 7 Ultraframe share price boost

SHARES in Ultraframe pic got another City page boost this week. They rose on Monday following

a respected columnist’s “worth buying” article on Saturday. The firm has “put forward some strong financial credentials recently” says the writer. Ultraframe Chief Executive

David Moore is said to estimate that 12 million homes in the coun try could have a back garden con

servatory but only one-sixth have one so far. This is described as a tantalising

potential market by the writer, who goes on to explain that the company’s 53% gross profit mar gin in Britain and 42% in Ameri ca gives a strong cash'flow. This allows quick clearance of bank debt and money to constantly improve technology and processes.

SheepFest aims to have people flocking to town

SHEEP will be taking to the streets in the Ribble Valley’s first SheepFest in June. As part of the festival of ovine fun, the

organisers want people to take part in a competition to make a sheep for display in their gardens or house window throughout the town. They can be of any size and number, and scrap materials can be used to

S ir - r Garden party’s ‘massive’ attraction

ONE of the many competitions held at Moprland School’s annual garden party gave those who attended real pause for thought. Those who had a stab at guessing the

weight of a five-month-old puppy could well have been way off the mark. Moose, a St Bernard dog owned by Dar

ren and Andrea Turner, weighed in at a mas sive eight stones!

The party, on Saturday, was an outstand

ing success. Profits will be divided equally between school funds and Sound, Sense and Vision, a charity set up to help blind and deaf people use computers. The Mayor of the Ribble Valley, Coun.

Alan Yearing, and Mayor of Clitheroe, Coun. Mrs Joan Knight, attended the event.

There were displays of judo, football and

fencing and a fire-eating demonstration by French teacher Mmme Marion Payare and two of her friends which thrilled visitors to the garden party for the second year in suc cession.

Parents and pupils worked hard on many

activities, competitions and stalls, including face painting, cakes, books, bric-a-brac, books and toys. Party guests were also able to enjoy a bouncy castle and fancy dress competition.

THE application to erect a mobile phone mast disguised as a Scots pine tree at Down-

ham has been refused. A s reported last week, officials of Ribble

Valley Borough Council felt that the mast should be allowed. They pointed out in a report to the Planning and Development Committee that policy indicated approval where the mast was needed and no other loca tion coidd be found. A search by the appli cants had failed to locate any more urban site, said the report.

‘ D i s g u i s e d ’ m a s t p la n rejected But when the application came before the

committee, members heard claims that the

applicants should now, as a result of an appeal decision, be able to put the aerials on an exist ing mast in Chatburn.

Coun. Frank Dyson (Clitheroe) said he

thought there was “considerable dubiety” about the application for the tower in the wood. Members voted for refusal on the grounds that the mast would cause visual

harm and alternative sites had not been fully investigated.
