ship. Since then, he owned more than 40 bikes, and at one time he used to clock up around 12,000 miles on average every year. , During the four decades Mr Aspden worked in Blackburn as a local gov­ ernment officer, he would commute by bicycle from his Ribble Valley home every day.


Mr Aspden was a mem­


ber of the North Lan­ cashire Clarion Club, where he met his late wife, Caroline, who was also a keen cyclist. The couple had one


daughter, Penny. Mr Aspden’s funeral is


due to take place at Pleas- ington Crematorium on Monday at noon.

and arts centre is the construction of a bridge across the railway line, near the station and Platform Gallery. This is intended to provide direct access to the


GasWorks, should the plan be approved, from town centre car parks.
