his wife and charity work has not gone unno ticed, and the ladies of Downham WI have written to say, "if anyone deserves this award, it is certainly John". ■ And another grateful

She married in 1957 and had two more children, but her late husband, Mr John Bailey, of Hurst Green, was blind.
