THIS year has seen a historic event, both reli gious and civic, at Whalley Parish Church. Coun. Mrs Joyce Holgate is one of two village
representatives on Ribble Valley Borough Council and, as Mayor of the borough this year, chose to hold her civic service at the church with which she has a long connection. More than 300 people packed into the medieval
building, which was extensively refurbished last year, for the impressive occasion. The picture was taken as those taking part began to leave the church.
