Goldmember joins Austin’s stable
“AUSTIN POWERS IN GOLDMEMBER" {12) Grand Cinema, from tomorrow IT HAS been three years since Austin Powers, that swinging international man of mystery, has faced his arch enemy Dr Evil. But when Dr Evil and
his accomplice, Mini Me, escape from a maximum security prison, Austin is called into action once more. Teaming up with the
mysterious Goldmember, Dr Evil hatches a time travelling scheme to take
over the world, one that involves the kidnapping of Nigel Powers, Austin's beloved father and Eng land's most renowned spy. As he chases the vil
lains through time, Austin visits 1975 and joins forces with his old flame, Foxxy Cleopatra, a streetwise and stylish detective. Together, Austin and
Foxxy must find a way to save Nigel and stop Dr Evil and Goldmem ber from their mischie vous mayhem. Mike Myers once
again takes on multiple roles. He portrays Austin
Powers, Dr Evil and Fat Bastard, as well as his newest character, Gold- member. Joining him in the
adventure is Sir Michael Caine as Nigel Powers and singing sensation Beyonce Knowles as Foxxy. The combination works to give the third instalment of the Austin Powers saga the same successful mix of humour,
celebrity
cameos and parodies as its two predecessors.
Question: Beyonce Knowles is a singer in which group? Answer:................................................ . Name:............. . .......................................... . Address:............................... . ................... ..........

A MIXTURE of passion, lust, love and cruelty is being brought to a stage in the North West, via composers Puc cini, Strauss and Janacek. Opera North's annual pilgrimage
across the Pennines to The Lowry at Salford Quays this year includes its first production of Puccini's tragic masterpiece, "Tosca", for more than 10 years, it sees Janis Kelly making her debut in the role of Marschallin in "Der Rosenkavalier" and Tom Cairns returning to direct his landmark pro duction of of the harrowing but enlightening "Jenufa".
TECHNICAL difficul ties mean that The Birds, a spectactular pro duction being presented at the National Theatre in London, which was due to be performed in a
story of a common man forced to go to war and survive by his wits. ; There are also a series of excellent one-nighters,
' including Tony Hawks of Radio 4's News Quiz who, on October 6th, will describe his attempt to have a Top 20 hit any where in the world, and renowned Northern poet Roger McGough, who will read from his own collection on November 3rd. ■ Tony Benn will talk
about his political career on November 17th and Honor Blackman will present "Wayward Women" on March 30th. Pippa Munro
Pilgrimage for Opera North For good measure the company
squeezes in a concert performance of "Troilus and Cressida". Director Christopher Alden makes
his debut with Opera North with a contemporary production of "Tosca" which does not pull any punches. A strong international cast includes Nina Pavlovski as Tosca, Rafael Rojas as Cavaradossi and Robert McFarland as Scarpia. Opera North opens its five-day visit
to the North West with "Der Rosenkavalier" on November 5th.

the production in the spring and the Lowry box office plans to
arrange full refunds for ticketholders. An unusual attraction,
the Chinese State Circus, is coming to Salford Quays in January for three days.
