IT was an evening of fab ulous floats, fantastic fire works, friendship and fun. In these three,pages we,;
capture the atmosphere^ as Clitheroe partied on a scale rarely seen. , People travelled from:
miles away to witness the town’s Torchlight spectac ular - and spectacular it certainly was.'
The first
ever.Torch- .• b'!-'
light was held to celebrate the Golden- Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887;— And, 115 years later,
the Torchlight tradition is, still as strong as ever. On Saturday and Surf day, the Castle Field was
: transformed as thousands soaked up the sun and enjoyed the carnival atmosphere. The Castle Keep was illuminated throughout the weekend,
^providing a perfect back drop for the dazzling pro cession and the firework
• finale was, said by many to be the best ever.’ ' -'-/'When'is the next one?
/Another. fouryears,.at, least, says' the committee!
