The County Council is committed to working with the community and would welcome views on its draft proposals. The final date for receipt of comments is Friday 4th October 2002. All views should be submitted to the address below and will be carefully considered prior to the County Council agreeing its final submission to the BCE . Copies of all representations received will be forwarded by the County Council to the Boundary Committee for England. From 28th October'2002 the Boundary Committee will consider the submissions and determine draft recommendations which will be published from 28th May 2003, and invite comments for 21st July 2003. The final stage of the review will be in October 2003 when the final recommendations are published for a decision by the Electoral Commission; at which point there will be a further six weeks to comment.

Lancashire County Council's Penodlc Electoral Review by.tl.e Boundary Committee for. England (BCE) began on 9th>duly.' 2002. The broad objective of the revlew ls to ensure that within the County Council area the number of electors represented by each County Councillor is, as nearly as possible, the same. Also considered are local circumstances,. Including the need to secure convenient and effective local government, to reflect the identities of local communities and to achieve easily identifiable boundanes. , . ,


As with reviews of other authonties tha County review is concerned with the. number of electors within Lancashire, not the number of people resident. It Is based on figures provided by the twelve Distnct Councils of Lancashire from their electoral registers of December 2001 and a forecast by the County Council of.the electorate by 2006.
