tie-breaker against Castle B, who struggled to field a

full side. Fourth Division Station

Five-goal Waddington book place in quarter-finals

Grasaington................................

Waddington............................. WADDINGTON eased into the quarter-finals of the Craven League Third Division Cup after an emphatic win over their long-time

rivals. On an exceptional playing surface, , . .

considering the weather, the locals started with all guns blazing, pres

surising the home side. Wayne Boothman opened the scor

ing,g with a thunderous header from the the

edge of the box, and within minutes Nick Laxton made it 2-0 with an amazing strike, curling the ball into the roof of the net straight from a cor-

ing play from Waddington, Grassing- ton were fortunate to be only two goals down at the break.

But their luck ran out. Waddington added a third on the

from 20 yards out. Grassington tried to claw their way

back, but superb defensive work from Czapowski and Cunliffe kept them at

bay. And Waddington killed the game

off with two quick-fire strikes from Mark Harrison and Stuart Parkinson. Grassington grabbed a consolation

towards the final whistle. On Saturday, Waddington are at

home to Grassington in league action at Twitter Lane, kick-off 2-30 p.m. * 1
