this new vehicle would be something of an understatement, at that time its UK launch was some way off and their first reaction was to wonder what it was. Closer inspection confirmed that it was the Japanese manufacturer s latest 4x4 and the Fairbanks’ were impressed enough by its purposeful styling to follow up their sighting when they got back home.


That meant a trip to Walker Farri­ mond Nissan of Nelson and on arrival they were informed that they wouldn’t have long to wait for the X-Trail s UK debut. Not ones to make any rash deci­ sions Doug and Lyn tried out some of the X-Trail’s competition but through­ out their search the Nissan’s style and practicality kept it at the top of their most wanted list. It was definitely the car for them, they placed an order and on the 12th of October the Fairbanks became one of the first X-Trail owners
