SINCE the early days of the Methodist Church, during John Wesley’s life time, local or lay preach ers have played an impor tant part in the life of the churches in all areas, espe cially in the Clitheroe Cir
cuit. Recently, at a special ser
vice held at Trinity Church, the circuit gathered to cele brate the completion of seven years of part-time training for two Clitheroe people to be recognised as accredited local preachers. They were Cynthia Croy don, of Derwent Crescent, and Geoff Shaft, of Mead

unveiled at a ceremony attended by family mem
bers, personal and church friends and officials of the various centres Mr Pickup attends.

praise for the scope of the undertaking and the vivid and boldly individualistic
