Live Cycling, Eurosport, 4.30pm. Has cycling lost its credibility? Those in the know seem to think so. Last year’s drug scandal still rumbles on, rearing its ugly head every now and then to remind the sport’s cognescenti that it has a lot of ground to make up before the public start taking it seriously again. Cycling’s most prestigious tour opens today at the Futuroscope in Poitiers. It begins with a 16km individual time trial, where the top sprinters will be at the fore, going against the clock for valuable points before the race gets underway in earnest tomorrow. Expect Lance^Armstrong (pictured) and Mario Cipollini to be among the leading pack.
