Morocco." This travel show had the
clear objective of conveying the essence of an adventure holiday in the interior of this little-known country. The journey started by
air but soon changed to Land Rover travel on the mountain roads, and taxis. Ultimately, wheels were exchanged for feet for trekking in the Atlas and Anti-Atlas mountains, many peaks of which rise to 12,000
ft.The quality of both the slides and the commentary was extremely high, with colourful pictures and a relaxed, informative expla nation of the way of life of

Checkout shock for shopper
A SAINSBURY'S shopper had a shock at the checkout - a rucksack containing a handbag and other posses sions had been stolen from her trolley as she walked
round. The incident happened in
the half hour or so after 1 p. m. on Thursday. The items stolen, including a mobile telephone, were worth £120 and there was also £50 in cash. Police are investigat
ing.
Farmers put their views to Archbishop

A TRADITIONAL Ribble Valley welcome greeted the Archbishop of York during his whis t le -s top tour of the
area. The Most Rev. and Rt.
Hon. Dr David Hope start ed his visit to the Lan cashire part of the Bowland Deanery with a late break fast at the Gisburn Country Store and Diner, where he met representatives from the farming communities in the Craven, Hodder and Ribble Valley areas to dis cuss the current crisis in the industry. He was joined by the Rt. Rev. David Smith, Bishop of Bradford; the Rt. Rev. Peter Vaughan, Assis tant Bishop of Bradford; the Ven. Malcolm Grundy, Archdeacon of Craven; Rural Officer Rev. Les Fos ter; the Rev. David Rhodes, former Rural Dean of Bow- land; and the newly- licensed Dean, Rev. David Mewis, the rector for Bolton-by-Bowland with Grindleton. Mr Mewis said: ”It was a
breakfast visit, Dr Hope commented: "The Church hopes to offer pastoral care and support to the farmers, as well as making our voic es heard in various forums. It is very important that farmers help each other and do not feel they are on their own."The Archbishop listened to the comments made by several members of the farming community regard ing issues such as the levels of financial help given to farmers in other countries and the low price of goods produced in other countries, compared to the UK. One farmer’s wife also spoke of how the crisis is affecting the families of the farmers, as well as the industry as a

Young soccer enthusiasts turn out for Kosovo fund
BENEVOLENT young soccer stars are teaming-up with the aim of net ting scores of cash for the Kosovo
Refugee Appeal Fund. Readstone United junior football club is
joining forces with Clitheroe Wolves foi a charity football match on Saturday. Boys from next season's undcr-8s, under-
9s and under-lOs will be showing off their skills at Read School Field, in Straits Lane, Read, from 10-30 a.rn. and aim to raise lots
of money for the fund. Readstone chairman Clive Bennett said:
"Although we are only playing football, it is our way of supporting the people of Kosovo. And if we can relieve a bit of their suffering by raising money from our foot ball match then our flourishing friendship
with the Wolves should be embraced by all
concerned." Wolves managers and Readstone man
agers will also be dusting off their boots for the friendly match and it is hoped the day will end with a dads v lads game. Clitheroe chairman George Ilibbert said
"At times like this, when we see television images daily of children suffering, then club loyalty should be put on one side and we all join together to do whatever we can." The club is urging people to support the
Bank Holiday weekend event and would like to hear from any local business which

Man who was ‘taken over’ by drink shouted abuse at females
DRINK had taken over one of two men arrested after a disturbance in Garstang Road, Chipping, Black burn magistrates heard. Craig Anthony Lord (28), of Mearley
Brook Fold, Clitheroe, and Mark Howarth (29), of Talbot Close, Clitheroe, were each fined £100 with £40. costs. They pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour. The court heard that Lord was shouting abuse at a number of females. He refused
to leave and was joined by Howarth and two other men. All four tried to push their way back into the Brick House Bowling Club and after another warning were |
arrested. Mr R. Pickles, for Lord, said he was .
sorry for his behaviour. He had been to an engagement party and did not know what the argument had been about, because drink had taken over. The other two men had been given a |

The school serves the whole of. the farming community in and around the Ribble Valley. The Archbishop was also introduced to head teacher Mr Steve Colling, who received a CBE for his achievements in the educa
tion field. The party then visited
the Craven area to meet employees from the Holi day Cottages Group, in Earby, and to present cheques to the parishes of Barnoldswick, Oxenhope and Cautley, which will be
