Renault revs up the Clto R


ENAULT is planning to turn its mild-man­ nered Clio supermini into the ultimate enthusiast’s hatchback.


Eventually, there will be four higher performance versions


of Clio, ranging from the warm to scorching. In February, the first of the four came along - an £11,000


Clio Si, featuring a 90 b.h.p. eight valve: engine. Now it has been joined in the showrooms by a 110 b.h.p. 1.6,16-valve

THE all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is launched on Saturday, suc­


ceeds a model which has achieved a remarkable reputation around the world. The out-going Grand Cherokee demon-


strated extraordinary popularity by set­ ting new sales records every year since it was launched into European markets in


1993.Almost 80,000 have been sold in Europe since its introduction, as customers have sought the unique American go anywhere, do anything quality that Jeep provides. The all-new 1999 Grand Cherokee picks


up where the previous model left off, reaf­ firming its classic American Jeep design, innovation and leadership in four-wheel


drive, while offering a host of features and equipment comparable to the world's finest luxury cars.

system, the new Grand Cherokee not only leapfrogs its predecessor, but also

has an on-the-road price of £29,995. The 4.7-litre Limited version is avail­


able at an on-the-road price of £34,995. Since the late summer of last year, the


all-new Grand Cherokee has been pro- duced for the North American market at the new Jefferson North Plant in Detroit. Vehicles sold in Europe are produced at


Graz in Austria.


Spruce up for the Ford Ka F


ORD has spruced up the Ka for spring, with a number of


changes including the addition ot a Ka Collection special edition. The Collection is based on the higher specification 1.3 litre Ka


2, and for £3,595 it comes equipped with power steering,


central locking and electric win­ dows, chrome effect kickplates, leather steering wheel and body


colour bumpers.
