lives. There is so much to think

about, from the colour of the bouquet to where you

will live. Months of preparation -

and in some cases years - go

into most weddings. Key decisions include

where to hold the reception, what the bride, bridegroom and wedding officials will wear, and where the service will be held. Even a simple register office ceremony needs to go to plan. Perhaps the key decision is where to set up home. These

days that is sorted out well before the wedding in many cases. But other people will need to think about where to live and whether they plan to rent or buy their new home

together. There is plenty of choice, and building up your own

"nest" is a big part of learning to live with each other. Choosing the decor, the garden layout and the furniture is the sort of thing which brings couples together. The venue for both ceremony and reception, too, need

careful consideration, and cost may well be a factor in the latter. Then there are all the worries over who to invite

and who to leave off the guest list. Wedding presents can be another worry - the tradi tional glut of toasters can be avoided by preparing a

careful wedding list. Wedding wear is a world of its own. It is bad enough

for the bridegroom. Does he hire morning clothes, or buy

something? For the bride, the choice is endless. And then, there are

the bridesmaids to think about. Fortunately, help is at hand, with many excellent

bridalwear shops ready to advise. And there is a big selection of dresses at all price ranges, too. And then you have to think about hair and make-up. As far as the reception is concerned, you have to plan

where it will happen, and what sort of meal you will have. Some people go for a full "sit-down do”, while oth ers prefer a buffet. To some extent, it depends on the

time of year. Apart from the bride, the cake is the centre-piece of

the reception, and so you want that to look right. There are many specialists who will advise you on the styles

available to make a great impression. Your means of travel to and from the event are also

important. You need to know that whoever looks after your transport needs is reliable. Whether it be a pony and tap, a stretch limo or a black cab, you need to be sure your "wheels" will be there when you want them. Finally, there is the honeymoon. Most brides and

bridegrooms want to make it an experience to remem ber, and foreign destinations are very popular. But there are still some for whom the "West Coast" is best. So, as you can see, there is plenty to think about well ahead of your big day. It takes a lot of thinking about,

but it is worth it in the end. Friends and relatives will always be happy to help

plan a wedding, of course, but at the end of the day it is down to the bride and bridegroom to make it the sort of

day they want.

Key decisions include where to hold the reception, what the bride, bridegroom and wedding officials will

wear, and where the service will be held. Even a simple register office ceremony needs to go to plan.
