AISTECH 2025 | COMPANY SPOTLIGHT

interactive displays for an EC&M brand DC hoist controller, its Mill-Duty Brake and a Varimax VFD hoist demonstrator. The company will demonstrate its new VariMax

AC variable frequency hoist motor controls, designed to maximise your uptime, save energy and minimise maintenance on your crane, to reduce downtime. These VFD controls are exclusively provided by Hubbell as drive only components, single motion controllers, or complete multi-motion control systems. Its online flexible configurator allows OEMs and end users to tailor their system to fit each site’s needs. VariMax systems offer a wide variety of control options, including 2 speed infinity variable, 4 speed adjustable speed set points or PLC control. Hubbell will also unveil its new mill duty

VariLink Radio systems. Its new radio systems include innovative technologies for heavy industry and is specifically designed for harsh environments. The VariLink belly box transmitters feature the patent-pending haptic feedback motion switches, interchangeable batteries and a full variety of auxiliary switches to cover every crane function. Belly boxes come in two sizes: the first is standard with up to four motions and seven aux functions; the second mill-style radio is available with up to six motions and ten auxiliary functions. In addition, the new systems feature up to three removable batteries, while fixed position VariLink Radio system transmitters can be powered by a standard USB-C cable. The versatile, new VariLink DC radio system

features CANbus controlled intermediate relay systems, independent CANbus controlled latching relay system and digital receiver. These allow this system to be configured for any crane combination in the field. The digital receiver is a compact enclosed system with built-in Sounder (Horn) and Start relays, 900MHz frequency hopping spread spectrum card, CANbus interface and integrated Watchdog Safety Circuit. The CANbus controller intermediate relay systems feature four 2-pole form C relays and redundant CANbus interface for added expansion. The VariLink’s independent CANbus controlled

latching relay system will work on both the DC and AC radio systems to minimise on hand spares. These systems contain two independent latching contactor outputs and are equipped with status monitoring and indication. The contactor outputs

are designed to enable any crane magnet circuit, and power control via the transmitter.

More on offer The EC&M brand Class 6121 DC crane control mill panels are used to operate DC series wound motors for hoist and travel drive applications. The rugged, mill duty controls are designed to meet AIST and NEMA standards, and have a long, mill-proven life expectancy and require minimal maintenance. As standard, these panels use the EC&M brand Class 7004 Type M LINE-ARC contactors, Class 7001 Type K relays, and Class 7001 Type ST1 acceleration relays. Paired with the EC&M brand Class 5010 Type F magnetic drum brakes for stopping or holding duty, the DC series motor control systems provide complete, rugged and reliable control. The Class 5010 Type F magnetic drum brakes can be configured for Series, Shunt or rectified brake operations used for many mill drive systems including crane hoists, mill drives and transfer cars. Standard Shunt Brakes are used as holding or stopping brakes with DC reversing controls such as crane bridges or trolleys or mill auxiliary drives. Gleason Reel displays include The Beam

Master Series I120/I130. Reel Trolleys are engineered for robust and versatile use, particularly suitable for environments requiring reliable cable and hose management systems. These trolleys are designed to accommodate a minimum beam height of 5.0in, which can be reduced to 3in with optional flanged wheels, enhancing their adaptability to various industrial settings. The I120/I130 series features single clamp designs, with custom options for wheel material, wheel style and lubrication preferences. The standard intermediate reel trolley configuration ensures durability and ease of maintenance, with zinc hardware and a painted finish for corrosion resistance. The trolleys support a maximum saddle diameter of 18.12in and can handle loads up to 700lb, making them suitable for high-capacity applications. They are designed to operate at travel speeds up to 650fpm. Acceleration considerations are provided upon consultation, ensuring units meet a wide range of operational demands in cable and hose management systems. 
