OCH: What do you like about this business? KN: Manufacturing is a dynamic and rewarding industry. I love the tangible results of our work – seeing a piece of equipment that we built help power a nuclear plant or support a critical infrastructure project is incredibly fulfilling. Manufacturing is also an industry of problem- solvers, innovators and builders. Every day presents new challenges and opportunities to improve, evolve and push the limits of what we can create.


In leading our business, I’m continually


fascinated by the diverse applications of our products and the innovative spirit of our team. I’m constantly awed by the brain power and creativity that drives us forward, opening up new possibilities in every corner of our industry. While managing people certainly comes with its challenges, it’s the most rewarding part of what we do. I see every challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow, and I believe that overcoming


these obstacles is part of the fun and excitement of our work.


OCH: What makes your company unique? KN: American Crane is unique because of our people and our culture. Our GRIT Matters philosophy has fostered a company where employees feel valued, engaged and committed to our mission. We also stand out through our willingness to take on complex, high- stakes projects that require custom solutions. Additionally, our investment in workforce development and training ensures that we continue to grow, not just as a business but as a team.


OCH: What is your view on the future of the overhead cranes business? KN: The future of the overhead crane industry will be shaped by technology, automation and smart solutions. In 2019, we made a deliberate move towards integrating modern technologies into our equipment. We recognised that staying at the forefront of innovation was essential for long-term competitiveness. This led to the creation of our Innovation Lab, where cross-functional teams explore and develop new technologies such as NorLink Smart Crane and NorLink MHIoT solutions. However, innovation isn’t just about technology – it’s also about how we work.
