IT’S THE SEASON of exhibitions where we celebrate the long-awaited opening of the National Portrait Gallery refurb at £41m by Jamie Fobert Architects who has, with designers Nissen Richards, masterminded the biggest redevelopment since it opened its doors
in 1896. We also have a report from the Salone show in Milan by Te Furniture Practice, from which we’ve extracted some highlights of the exhibition. Finally, there’s a big celebration of Herzog and de Meuron at the Royal Academy over the summer, showcasing their achievements over 45 years, whilst offering an insight into methods, materials and technologies from their vast architectural experience. We also have a magnificent supplement on bars
and leisure this month in which you have designs for science fiction and space age experiences, together with environments that celebrate the natural world. Tere’s a great diversity of designs for bars and relaxation for customers that encourage them to linger – which is always popular with clients. Talking of bars and leisure, we have the FX International
Interior Design Awards looming ahead with 27 new judges for this year, so whilst you’re preparing your fabulous projects to enter, we’re preparing the stage set, the theatre, the lights and magic of the night. It will be a terrific celebration of your work! Enter now and join us for the party at
fxdesignawards.co.uk See you soon!
