THE GRAND MAGIC HOTEL, PARIS LIGHTING DESIGN: MOMENT FACTORY
There was a time when no queue, an eficient check-in and someone hovering to carry your bags would be a fair start to your hotel experience. Arrival at the Grand Magic Hotel is designed to be a little more elaborate: ‘an immersive hotel experience where hospitality meets themed entertainment.’

The interior evolves throughout the day and the experience culminates at night when Mr Maurice ‘activates his enchanted
elevator’ to immerse guests in four separate ‘worlds’: the French Garden, the Forest Pavilion, the Water Palace and the Sky Gallery. Each world is an immersive multimedia show, supported by an original soundscape, that unfolds over four acts, taking guests on a deliberately-paced journey that includes relaxing ambient sequences punctuated by entertaining show moments. A seamless layer of multimedia and spatialised sound accommodates multiple viewpoints and sustains the illusion from every angle. In the French Garden, golden light illuminates a living garden landscape inspired by the natural landscape that surrounds the hotel. In the morning, the garden immerses guests in a vivid sunrise. In the afternoon, a sunset welcomes guests back, setting the scene for the
