LIGHT + TECH 107
evening. The Grand Hall becomes an underwater world swimming with sea creatures, while the Forest Pavilion features a mysterious forest of towering trees, lush vegetation and swirling fireflies. The Sky Gallery is a setting above the clouds, with a glowing full moon, cosmic fireworks and soaring paper aeroplanes. A primary goal was to encourage families and friends to spend time in the hotel’s Grand Hall, where they can gather, have themed drinks, and take in the dynamic content.
Creative director Moment Factory, known for its theme park attractions, has an eclectic portfolio and clients that number Disney, Microsoft, Sony, Boston Museum of Science, Universal Studios, Reims Cathedral and Madonna. On the Grand Magic Hotel project, it worked with
Tétris Design and Build – responsible for the production and installation of the scenographic elements – and interior design and architecture agency Maison Numéro 20, which added vivid colour and additional elements designed to facilitate deep immersion.
The technical kit involved included 120 x 55-inch Samsung HD LED screens and eight 85-inch HD LED screens; two HD video projectors; 110 Frenetik sound fixtures and 148 RGBW Chauvet light fixtures. This added up to 44 terabytes of content with more than 275 million pixels of video content in the Grand Hall and more than 33 million pixels of video content in the lobby.
