Tis is my last issue of FX, and whilst I’m very sad about leaving, it has given me great pleasure and great inspiration for the past 19 years. Tat’s a long time with you lot! Te FX magazine, together with the excitement, glamour and success of

the FX Awards, plus the FX Design seminars and the FX Talks, has been nothing but electric over the years. To all the judges, winners and the shortlisted, your integrity, your commitment, your creativity has made my job the very best job in the world. It’s a job that I’ve loved and has made me excited, energised and intellectually challenged every day. Te great industry of architecture and design, the great thinkers of today and the wild ones of tomorrow, are what has bounced me out of bed every day to go foraging for the great, the good and the outrageous. Who else can say that they’ve loved their job this much?! It’s a great legacy to leave to my great friend and

assistant Emily, who is taking over the reins of the editorship. Tis is so deserved. I have worked with Emily for 12 years and not only has she been the long-suffering fabulous colleague that we all need, but she also knows and loves the industry. She’s a trained product designer and has great synergy with suppliers and designers. I’m leaving FX in the best possible hands.

Long live FX! Theresa Dowling, editor

On the cover:

The reception at Vedanta features a series of bespoke, motion-sensitive, oculus ‘moon’ luminaires that come to life when people walk under them – see Light + Tech, which starts on page 99
