Her career began at Marks & Spencer where she worked for 22 years, followed by cancer charity Macmillan and latterly mobility solutions provider Zigup. She is a member of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development). We’re delighted to welcome Joanne to NTG,” said Scott Cairns, group chief executive.

“The Group’s companies are all long- established specialists in timber. We’re proud of our heritage whilst also being a forward-thinking business where people can build their careers.”

RFS Gold for Dr Jo Clark

Dr Jo Clark, head of research at the Future Trees Trust, has become the first person for nearly five years to be awarded the Royal Forestry Society’s (RFS) Gold Medal for distinguished services to forestry. She is also the first woman to receive the award. The award was made at a presentation by RFS president Ben Herbert at the Future Trees Trust Supporters Day at Buscot and Coleshill Estates in Oxfordshire. Future Trees Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving broadleaved trees. “I am delighted to award the Royal Forestry Society’s Gold Medal, which is rarely and sparingly given, to Dr Jo Clark,” said Mr Herbert. “Her contribution and knowledge of the future trees we should plant is immeasurable and without her and her work I think we would be at a loss to

find what trees we should be planting for the future.”

Dr Clark began her career working for the US Forest Service on the selection of native species, tree breeding and management of seed orchards and progeny trials in the Pacific north-west of the US. She holds a BSc in Plant Biology, an MSc in Natural Resource Management and a PhD from Bangor University for her work on the adaptation of ash to climate change.

After eight years working in the US, Dr Clark joined the Northmoor Trust, (later to become the Earth Trust) as manager of its 40-acre research woodland at Paradise Wood. In 2013 she was recruited by the Future Trees Trust as research co-ordinator. She became head of research in 2018.

RGB and CRS were acquired by IBMG in 2022. With Mr Spokes taking the helm in the south-west, Toby Constable will continue to lead IBMG’s build division in the south-east with Mat Miller in the north. Prior to this appointment, Mr Spokes was MD of IBMG’s roofing division, where he has overseen its development to become the third largest roofing merchant in the country and the largest independent in southern England.

completed a social value project for Stepping Stones Family Learning Centre in Stepps, significantly upgrading the exterior play areas of the nursery and revitalising the play environment.

The project, led by Morris & Spottiswood operations director, David Thorn, was undertaken as part of the company’s community benefits delivery in relation to its appointment to two North Lanarkshire- based frameworks. Working on a segregated section at a time to allow play to continue during the build, the team of seven upgraded a large section of tarmac and small areas of mud and grass into a fully functioning play garden.
