M&M Timber has further strengthened its team following the appointment of three key roles at the production site in Worcestershire. Tom Oakley has joined the business as operations manager. He brings a wealth of manufacturing and operational experience, having previously worked with a number of international global organisations including Worcester Bosch and Kohler Mira Ltd. Based at Clows Top, Mr Oakley will be responsible for the operations, from

raw timber arriving on site to the effective completion of finished products delivered to customers.

With more than 22 years of experience in heavy industry and a wide knowledge of engineering Chris Cadwallader has joined as maintenance manager. He will be responsible for all site maintenance and improving asset reliability. The continued investment on site with infrastructure and machinery will also be a key part of his role.

New board member appointed at Premier

Premier Forest Products has appointed Anthony Hopps as group processing director, supporting the company’s commitment to its processing division. Mr Hopps, who has more than 30 years’ industry experience, joined the business early last year, following the acquisition of Decorpanel, a specialist panel processing company based in Tyne & Wear.

Under Mr Hopps’s leadership, the panel processing arm has grown to incorporate North-East Sheets & Panels Ltd (NESP) which has rebranded under

the Decorpanel name as Decorpanel KBB (Kitchens, Bedrooms and Bathrooms). Hs new role will see him taking responsibility for Premier Forest Product’s processing division as a whole, which includes Premier Processing and Fabrication in Newport, south Wales. “Appointing this new position to the board demonstrates the importance of further developing the processing division, following the successful integration of NESP into Decorpanel,” said Terry Edgell, co-founder and chief executive officer of Premier Forest Products.

To support the focus on a safe working environment, the business has appointed Lewis Hines as health and safety adviser. Working closely with Ben Whitehouse, group head of compliance (HSE) at Forest Garden Group, Mr Hines will be responsible for all health and safety on site at Clows Top.

He joins the business following a degree-apprenticeship in dairy engineering and the completion of health and safety qualifications.

Appointments at Arnold Laver Northallerton

Arnold Laver has appointed Lee Pollitt as manager for the Northallerton branch and Claire Leckenby to the branch sales team.

The Northallerton branch is one of 15 Arnold Laver sites across England and was the former head office site of NYTimber. All NYTimber branches have now been brought into the Arnold Laver network by parent company National Timber Group (NTG). Mr Pollitt was previously regional sales manager for NYTimber, and Ms Leckenby was previously business administration manager, based at Northallerton.

“Lee has hit the ground running as he already has excellent relationships with our northern customers,” said Tom Andrews, trade branch director NTG England. “He has 13 years’ experience in the region and is a true timber specialist.

“Claire has over 20 years’ experience in the timber and builders’ merchant sector and brings that valuable understanding of both our business and our customers’ expectations to her new role in sales.”
