Raw materials France
Nothing changed in the veal market thanks to the scarcity of the best selections. French black/white
selections weighing 8–12kg were still stable at €5.00–5.40 and those over 13kg were also unchanged at €6.50–7.00. The price for 13kg and up luxury selections was steady at €7.20–7.50. The 8–12kg luxury selections were also unchanged at €5.60–6.00. Prices are per kilogram, delivered to northern Italian tanneries on a 30-day payment plan. After making gains in early October, cow prices in Europe started to decline. At the end of November, Central French 32kg-plus were €0.10 lower at €0.90–0.95. Lighter selections under 32kg were similarly down at €0.75–0.80. French Bretagne 32kg and under was €0.15 lower, selling at €0.85–0.90/kg. On the other hand, the 32kg and up selection was again slightly higher, selling at €1.00–1.10.
The French bull market was still grappling with a lack of automotive programming and poor furniture orders. French Bretagne selections 37kg and up were €0.05–0.10 lower than our last report, selling at €1.30–1.35. The under 37kg selection was a little weaker at €1.20–1.30. Among central French hides, the 37kg and up was €0.10 lower at €1.15–1.20 as was the 37kg and under category at €0.95–1.00.
Germany
German cow hide prices had been rising, but by the end of November, they were on the decline again. The 25kg and up north German cows were €0.10 lower at €0.60–0.65/kg. Lighter weights of 15–24kg were €0.10–0.13 lower at €0.70–0.72. Cow hide prices in southern Germany also dropped: 40kg and up selections sold for €1.00/kg. The 30–39kg selections were lower too, selling at €0.85.
German heifer prices were mixed in November. North German 25kg and up were stable at €0.85/kg and the price was still €0.95 for the 15–24kg from the same region. South German heifers, however, saw declines. The 40kg and up were lower at €1.15, and the 30–39kg selection was also down at €1.05. After some early autumn gains, German bull prices were lower. North German bull selections at 40.0–49.0kg were €0.05–0.10 lower, selling for €0.95–1.00/kg. South German bulls were also lower at €1.30–1.35 for the 40–49kg selections.
Greece
Demand in the last quarter of the year drove up the price of lamb and sheep skins from Greece. Sales of
lambskins (70/20/10) were up by $20.00 at $120.00– 140.00 per dozen, pickled. Lambskins (C2) were firmer, selling for $40.00 to $50.00 per dozen, pickled.

Norwegian cows slumped along with the rest of the European hide market, losing €0.10 to sell for €1.65. Norwegian
bulls were €0.05 lower, with the 34kg and up average green weight selections trading at €1.90/kg.
25 India
After the decline in October, India’s buffalo market prices remained stable through the end of November. Crust
1.4–1.6mm was still trading at US$0.55–0.60 per square foot. Crust 0.9–1.1mm was also stable at US$0.45–0.50.
Iran
Iranian markets dropped in November. Mutton skins (AB) were $30.00 lower at $100.00 per dozen, pickled. Super mutton skins were down by $10.00 at $40.00. Prices on medium goat skins were steady at $12.00–15.00.
Italy
The October gains for Italian cows were wiped out in November, with prices €0.10–0.15 lower at €0.55/kg.
Italian bull prices were weaker, selling at €0.95–1.00 for 40kg and up average green weight. Italian veal prices were once again stable in November. The 18kg and up skins were selling at €4.50–5.00/kg. Selections under 18kg were also higher at €3.80–4.30/kg.
Netherlands
Dutch veal skins maintained steady levels through November. The 12.5kg selections were unchanged at €4.30–
4.80. Skins at 16.5kg were still at €5.20–5.60. Dutch cow hides were a little weaker, selling at €0.65–0.70 per kilo. All prices quoted are on material delivered to northern Italian tanneries on a 30-day payment schedule.
New Zealand
New Zealand’s market prices were stable. Wet-blue ox, selection 70/30%, 20–24kg, was unchanged at US$43.00 per piece. Heavier 27kg and up was also unchanged, selling for $64.00. Wet-blue heifers were steady at $43.00 for the 18–23kg selection. Wet-blue cows, selection 70/30%, were stable at $24.00 for 14–18kg.
Nigeria
Nigerian raw material remained unchanged. Cross lamb A was still stable at €2.70/ft2
skins were likewise unchanged at €1.50/ft2
