Egger takes over German recycling company M+P Umweltdienste

Egger has acquired the German recycling company M+P Umweltdienste GmbH for an undisclosed sum. M+P Umweltdienste GmbH, based in Overath, near Cologne, has already supplied Egger with recyclable raw materials in the past. With the takeover of the company, Egger is pursuing its strategic goals of further increasing the proportion of wood used from by-products and recycling

and securing the supply of raw materials with backward integration.

The previous owner of M+P Umweltdienste Florian Michels will remain in the management and will be responsible for the site together with the experienced Egger recycling experts Peter Lattrich (technology/production) and Tobias Neumann (finance/ administration).

New managing director for Dieffenbacher Energy GmbH

The company’s 23

employees will be taken on by Egger. “In terms of backward

integration, we at Egger are expanding our independent waste wood recycling companies,” said Thomas Leissing, spokesman for the Egger Group management. “In this way we can combine resource conservation and raw material security. We are pleased to now have the

Overath location and thus the waste wood potential of the greater Cologne/Bonn area in our group. In addition, we are taking on an experienced team that will provide us with significant support in the further expansion of our recycling activities.” Egger has almost 30 years of experience in using recycled wood in production: in 1995 it began using waste wood in chipboard at Brilon.

Wolfgang Lashofer has taken over operational management of the former BERTSCHenergy and is the new managing director of Dieffenbacher Energy GmbH.

Dieffenbacher Energy GmbH was formed at the beginning of the year from the acquisition of BERTSCHenergy, based in Bludenz, western Austria. Mr Lashofer thus takes over the management of the newly established Energy Business Unit at Dieffenbacher. “I very much look forward

to the tasks ahead of me and, above all, to work with the highly motivated team at

Dieffenbacher Energy,” he said.

Mr Lashofer previously

worked for the Austrian Andritz Group for more than 35 years. As senior vice-president and global division manager, his most recent responsibilities there included recovered paper treatment, fibreboard (MDF) and recycling.

“The fact that we

have won over such an experienced management personality as Mr Lashofer gives Dieffenbacher Energy further tailwind,” commented Dieffenbacher CFO Volker Kitzelmann.

Sonae Arauco was due to launch its new Innovus Collection – Matching our Nature – at the interzum show on May 9-12. “This collection is in line with the latest trends and the essence of Sonae Arauco,” said João Berger, chief marketing and sales officer at Sonae Arauco. The new collection

comprises more than 220 decorative solutions and over 40 new decor innovations, including natural woods such as Karlstad Oak, ‘fantasies’

such as the textile Canasta or the stone decor Fossil Brown. They are designed to create an “impressive authenticity”. Soft Clean, a new surface

texture with a fine grain structure and improved gloss level was being launched at interzum. The texture with a soft feel combines a modern, rather matt appearance with the durability and properties that demanding applications require. The décors are available in

decorative panels (chipboard and MDF) and in laminates.
