FEATURE Ӏ REPAIR AND SERVICING

with in-depth niche skills and knowledge. These outfits can offer a personal, customer-focussed service combined with the flexibility that small independents often excel in providing. The parallels with the

automotive sector are clear: do you take your pride and joy to be repaired and serviced at the dealer-approved garage, maintaining all the manufacturers’ stamps and guarantees, using OEM parts? Or do you need the niche skills of an independent specialist who can offer out-of- the-box thinking combined with the freedom to fabricate whatever is needed to effect the repair? The crane plays an important role maintaining a water desalination and treatment plant. Key to this longevity has been the care and attention that SembCorp lavishes upon it.

“We take great care of our crane,” says Ehab Mohamed Bayoumi, mechanical manager at SembCorp. “We ensure that we follow the crane’s manual for all suggested maintenance tasks and perform any minor repairs as needed.” According to Manitowoc, this
