important market for Spierings and one with strong growth potential,” says Jeroen Kerkhoff, responsible for sales in Scandinavia, Belgium and Asia at Spierings Mobile Cranes. “With the increasing demand for efficient lifting solutions on compact construction sites the mobile tower crane concept fits the Korean market very well.” D&T Machinery agrees. “The
innovative concept of mobile tower cranes offers significant advantages for urban construction projects, which are increasingly common in Korea,” says Mr. Lee, owner of D&T Machinery. The company is well-placed to judge emphasises Kerkhoff. “D&T Machinery has an excellent reputation and deep knowledge of the Korean crane market,” he says. “Their experience with European crane manufacturers and their strong focus on service make them the ideal partner in South Korea.” Indeed, D&T Machinery
previously served as a dealer for Demag cranes before the brand was acquired by Tadano. Today, D&T Machinery continues to represent Terex rough terrain cranes and is also active in trading high-quality second-hand Japanese and German cranes. South Korea is not, however, a new market for Spierings. The first Spierings mobile tower cranes were imported into the country in 2013, and since then Spierings says the concept has steadily gained recognition among Korean contractors. Spierings says that today South Korea represents the largest market for mobile tower cranes outside Europe, making it a key region for its continued international growth. Despite this presence for the
last 13 years it’s the scale and level of sales, after-sales service, and spare parts availability that D&T Machinery can now provide that is crucial. “After-sales service and spare
parts availability are essential,” emphasises Mr. Cha, co-owner of D&T Machinery. “Our team is committed to building a strong local support structure so Korean customers can rely on fast service and minimal downtime. We see this as a long-term partnership with

POTAIN LAUNCHES POWERBOOST TO ADD BATTERY CAPACITY TO SELF-ERECTING CRANES
Potain has launched the new PowerBoost battery pack for the Potain Igo M 24-19, with plans to expand the offering to other cranes in the range in the future. It says the battery pack offers plug-and-play installation and can be used as a standalone unit or, alternatively, in conjunction with the on-site electricity supply. Once connected, PowerBoost can install
and erect the crane and deliver up to two working days of power. It has 16 kWh Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) batteries with an input rating of 230 V and a current range of 10 A to 16 A. Output is 230 V and up to 32 A. Fast charging is possible too, taking two hours, 15 minutes to go from 50% to 85% capacity when using a 16 A power supply. PowerBoost is fl exible, says Potain. If used as a standalone source for lifting operations only, for example, it can deliver an eight-hour workday with 50 load cycles. Alternatively, if PowerBoost is used just for set-up and tear-down, it can perform these tasks twice on a single charge, including commissioning the crane. PowerBoost can be attached during transport and drive the crane when it is
positioned via remote control. If PowerBoost is used in conjunction
with the local, on-site electricity supply, the two work together to regularly recharge the batteries and the crane uses minimal grid power for better effi ciency and cost savings. The fi rst Potain Igo M 24-19 equipped with
PowerBoost was purchased by Valem, a Potain dealer for France. Its fi rst job was at a project to restore the old ramparts in the historic village of Hiers-Brouage in Charente-Maritime district, for local specialist contractor Hory-Chauvelin.
