Van Oord completes Baltic Power offshore wind farm work


Van Oord has completed the transport and installation of monopile foundations and transition pieces for the Baltic Power offshore wind farm in Poland. The company concluded work on 78 monopile foundations and 76 transition pieces in coordination with joint venture partners Orlen and Northland Power. Baltic Power is set to have a capacity


of up to 1.2GW and aims to supply renewable electricity to more than 1.5 million households when operational. It is situated 23km north of the Polish coastline and scheduled to commence operations in the second half of 2026. Van Oord used heavy lift vessel the


Svanen to install the majority of the monopile foundations. The Svanen recently received an


extended crane, increasing its lifting height and capacity to accommodate the new 15MW wind turbines planned for the project.


The Baltic Power project represents


the vessel’s first deployment following these upgrades.

World’s first Grove GMK5150L-1e plug-in hybrid all-terrain goes to Mammoet


Manitowoc has delivered the very first Grove GMK5150L-1e plug-in hybrid all- terrain crane to Mammoet at its sales and service facility in Breda, The Netherlands. Manufactured in Wilhelmshaven,


Germany, the crane offers a maximum lifting capacity of 150 tonnes and a 60 metre main boom. It operates entirely emissions-free when running in electric mode through a 160kWh battery pack, while providing the same lifting performance and mobility as the traditional diesel-powered GMK5150L-1 all terrain. The GMK5150L-1e features a


‘charge-while-driving’ system that allows its battery to recharge while the vehicle is en route to or from worksites. The model supports several charging options, including DC fast charging, 32A/400V AC charging, and a 163kW onboard generator.

us to reliably complete our projects. Most importantly, it operates electrically and independently.” Mammoet selected this model in line


with its company objectives focusing on sustainability in project execution, noting operational flexibility as a key consideration, especially in environments with limited charging infrastructure. According to Manitowoc, close

For the transition pieces, Van Oord’s


team worked on-board SAL’s DP2 heavy lift vessel the MV Lone to oversee operations. Mammoet collaborated with Van Oord


in marshalling the foundations at the port using its XXL monopile transport system. The company also transferred the foundations from and to the water with the MTC1600 crane, a new piece of equipment developed for this project. Van Oord Offshore Energy managing


director Maurits den Broeder said: “We are very proud to have successfully completed this project, making a significant contribution to the energy transition in Poland.” Baltic Power was Van Oord’s initial offshore wind project in the Polish market.

development of features such as lower noise levels during electric operation, which Manitowoc says provides improved comfort without affecting the crane’s full performance capabilities.
